Palazzo Ricci Academy

Palazzo Ricci Academy

The Palazzo Ricci Academy is the first German music institute to be based in Italy. It was officially opened in 2001 upon completion of the restoration of the Renaissance building that houses it and after which it is named, just a short walk from Piazza Grande. The activity comprises courses to perfect skills and concerts.
The Palazzo Ricci Academy is a project that stems from an agreement between the Municipal Authorities of Montepulciano and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln – Germany’s biggest conservatory – and also thanks to the generous aid of private sponsors and supporters, who founded the association without any intention to make a profit. Every year, the Academy offers dozens of masterclasses and workshops, attended by numerous talented young musicians from all over the world. Also in Montepulciano, the association that manages the Academy organises a season of concerts, an interdisciplinary workshop of the Rhineland Academies and a Chamber Music Week, actively cooperating with other organisations based in Montepulciano. Lots of good quality events, which further enhance the town’s cultural life.
