Montepulciano: the Bandiera Arancione confirmed for the three-year period 2024 -2026

The recognition of the Touring Club continues to reward the quality of the services of the city of Montepulciano. Angiolini: “The reconfirmation is a good news, now we focus on the sustainability of our tourist destination”

The Italian Touring Club has confirmed the validity of  Bandiera Arancione  brand for the Municipality of Montepulciano also for the next three years, i.e. until 31 December 2026. The confirmation comes after the verification of over 250 parameters which must highlight the excellent level of hospitality of the Candidate municipality, together with particular attention to environmental sustainability, as well as the maintenance and usability of its artistic, cultural and naturalistic heritage

“Being confirmed among the Bandiera Arancione municipalities for the next three years is a source of great pride for Montepulciano and for the municipal administration. It gives an account of the great work carried out in recent years, by the institutions and operators in the sector, in valorising of the cultural, historical, landscape and food and wine heritage. Montepulciano confirms itself as an attractive tourist destination, at a national and international level, with data being certified for 2023 which gives us a record year in terms of tourist presences. The work we have started is to make tourism increasingly sustainable also from an environmental and social point of view”, is the comment of the Mayor of Montepulciano, Michele Angiolini.

Tuscany is currently the Italian region with the highest number of Bandiere Arancioni: 43, out of a total of 281 Italian Bandiere Arancioni. The Flag is awarded to inland locations that enjoy a high level of historical, cultural and environmental heritage and that are able to demonstrate that they offer a quality hospitality service. To enforce the established parameters, the recognition has a temporary validity; in fact, every three years the Municipalities must resubmit the application for candidacy and be subjected to analysis by the Italian Touring Club to verify compliance with the required standards. This is to guarantee tourists constant monitoring of the quality of the offer and to give the administrations a continuous stimulus for improvement.
